Sakura watching in Copenhagen

When we think about Sakura the first place that comes in our mind is beautiful cherry blossoms in Japan. It is surprisingly true that there are a few places to see beautiful cherry blossoms in Copenhagen. There are two main areas in Copenhagen where we can see cherry blossoms.

When is Sakura Festival?

Sakura Festival Dates: 22-23 April 2023

Cherry blossoms can be seen a few days before or after the Sakura festival dates too but it would be recommended to visit within one week.

Where to see Sakura?

Langelinie Park:

It is more central and the most popular place in Copenhagen to see Cherry Blossoms.

Bispebjerg Kirkegård:

Adresse: Frederiksborgvej 125, 2400 København

Another place to watch cherry blossoms. You will find more locals here than tourists. It is a hidden gem located inside Bisbebjerg Cemetery. The Cherry Blossoms here are different and are bigger and more pink than the ones in Langelinie which are more lighter in color. You can also visit the Grundtvig Church while your here and you can find some white cherry blossoms closer to the church.

Summary:

If your in Copenhagen around the month of April-May when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom I would highly recommend to go and visit them. Visiting during the weekdays early morning and afternoon could be a good idea if you want to avoid the crowd and take some amazing photos.
